The Ötztal is situated in Western Austria in the state of Tyrol, in a south-facing side valley of the Inn Valley.

North: Bad Tölz - Achenpass - B181 - Jenbach - A12-Innsbruck - Ötztal [Ötztal] exit - B186 (35 km) Pfronten - Reutte - Fernpass - Imst - A12 - Haiming/Ötztal exit or B171 until Ötztal (permit-free) - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Ehrwald - Lermoos - Fernpass - Imst - A12 - Haiming/Ötztal exit or B171 until Ötztal (permit-free) - B186 - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Mittenwald - Scharnitz - Seefeld - Telfs - A12 - Haiming/Ötztal exit or B171 until Ötztal (permit-free) - B186 (35 km)

South: coming from Meran in South Tyrol, you head via the Timmelsjoch to Umhausen-Niederthai into the Ötztal B186. High alpine road to almost 2,500 m, border crossing open from the start of June to the middle/end of October, toll road.

East: from Munich or Salzburg via the A93 until Kufstein, then take the A12 via Innsbruck to the Haiming/Ötztal exit, then on the B186.

West: from Vorarlberg to Tyrol via the Arlbergpass or through the Arlberg Tunnel (S16) - Landeck - Autobahn A12 - Haiming/Ötztal exit - B186 (35 km) in the direction of Umhausen-Niederthai.

There are direct flights to Innsbruck from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Hamburg if you want to shorten your journey a bit. You can conveniently catch the Ötztal shuttle in the state capital of Innsbruck and reach the Ötztal in no time. Without traffic, without parking worries – let your holiday begin in earnest!

Arrive comfortably and without stress by train. Closest train stations:

  • Innsbruck (approx. 55 km)
  • Imst (approx. 12 km)
